Explain what you are thinking about in more detail. I am familiar with almost every Split disc conversion out there and cannot make heads or tails of what you are looking for..?

In the new "vw bus, how to modify..."book it states you can use Brazilian stub axles which allow you to use a later bay window hub and disc brake.
CSP sells them, sounds good as new/rebuilt spindles and an easy upgrade to discs.

So you want to know if the book is lying to you or if you are reading it right?

Neither really.
I've spoke to CSP and the book's correct, just wondered if anyone's fitted them.
Seems pretty straightforward, might be a better bet than the wolfgang kit as I'd benifit from new/rebuilt spindles.
Just looking for opinions and advice
Thanks

Pretty slick front spindles.

Probably the bay front discs would be cheap as well in a bone yard.

But you will be stuck with the ugly bay/vanagon steal wheels :( (flame away!) . but you can always put on some Audi or Benz wheels and ride in good style... Yah even later Vanagon alloys, but they are pricey even used.

... Oh but then the rear does not match :( Type2Guy has a neat article on adapting a bay IRS rearend into a split so you could run bay drums in the rear.

Basically the Wolfgang kit keeping the wide five looks better and better.

I already have split to bay adapters for the rear,
but I've 14 by 6 fuchs I'd like to use, and porsche 944 brakes sound way better than Bay parts.
I know Old Speed do a kit for $800 or so, a little out of my budget, just looking into the various options.
I'm wary of a lowered later beam, track increase, bolt pattern and ride quality worry me, and might not be much more economical, as opposed to 67 beam with discs.{ I want stock height }
I emailed Franklin, will let you know the outcome
Thanks

The Old Speed kit is nice. What I run on the front of my '66.

You can save $ by getting the Porsche parts yourself and buying only the custom stuff from Old Speed.

I've a friend who's buddy works in a Porsche salvage yard, I'll check out Old Speed's site and give them a call.
How easy was the installation?
Thanks

To Cherrypie,

I do not have 6x14 fuchs, but I do have a set of 15x6 fuchs, and it fits perfectly and has alot of moving room, but I need to find a 14 or borrow one from someone.

Did you get our e-mail on the 944 4 piston brake set up?

They run 73-79 spindles, not 68-70. They take 944 rotors, hubs, bearings and races, and a 4 piston calipur. The calipur has a bracket to fit on the bus spindles like factory. If you want to see a picture, let us know and we will send you one.

From the small single 944 piston vs. a 4 piston calipur with almost twice the braking surface on the pad, for big turbo motors or big displacement motors that need better braking. Please take a look at what we have to offer before making your decision on going to a wrecking yard.

We can do these with a 2 1/2" drop spindle for a 55-79 link king pin or ball joint, or we can do from 68-79 stock height spindles if you would prefer to stay stock.

We do not have a picture of these in the website yet, not until Monday or Tuesday of next week.

He did say that $800 for the old speed kit was a litle out of his budget, so.........
