Does anyone know how to drill out the rivets in the window rubber on the door of a bug? And then when you get it out how do you rivet it back in? I dont see how to get down the center of the door to reaply the strips.
A little insight would rock.
How does this happen?

I assume you are looking at the outer window scaper on the doors.
You have to remove door window, pull the vent window and pull off the outer window scaper.
A replacement piece comes with the chrome strip and rubber.
They usually run about 15 to 20 bucks per side.
I used WCM 15 years ago and the car is not garaged. The rubber still looks perfect.

window scraper
I guess that would be what you call it. What I need to know is how to pop the rivets out from that metal piece that holds the chrome and the rubber. And then I need to know how you put it back together. How are you suppose to rivet a piece of metal in between the door?

You may have missed his (correct) explanation. The rubber window scrapers are riveted to the aluminum trim surrounding the window openings (and not to the door itself). You will need to remove thw windows, the "fuzzy" c-channel, vent wing, and all the screws. The whole scraper/trim assembly can then be popped out and allow you to attack the rivets you wish to remove and replace. Hope that helps! Cheers!

OHHHHH! Gotcha. I thought that that whole piece was riveted to the door. Next question would.....How do you get that little pivot hinge on the top of the vent window out and then back in if I have to take the vent window out?
Thanks for your help guys

that little rivet is part of the entire assembly that comes out. If I remember correctly your have to remove the window and pull back the felt channel right at the vent window. There is a screw beneath the channel and another one behind the side panel on the inside of the door. With these two screws out, you just tilt the vent window and pull it out of the door. Although if you are just replacing the felt channels, I don't think you have to remove the vent window but I could be wrong.
