Here's the rundown...

Chrome trim shaved and all other chrome will be color-matched. Front turn signals relocated to the bumpers and the fenders are shaved.

Color is Vortex/Soft Blue from the Limited Edition New Beetles and the VW Lupo. Wheels are 17x7 and 17x8.5 Porsche Boxster Twists, with 205-40-17 and 245-45-17 Nitto NT-555 tires.

The front is lowered 2.5" on Topline MaXX struts, Topline drilled/grooved disk brakes and Topline 7/8" swaybar.

Rear is stock with 5x130 drums and waiting for new shocks and bushings, as well as adjustable spring plates (hopefully before the winter). Also, the rear fenders are Creative Car Craft 1 1/4" wider fenders and each rear wheel has a 1" spacer.

Engine is a stock 1600 with dual weber 40's, 009 distributor with comp-u-fire, and a 1 3/8" header into a 2.5" phatboy muffler.

Interior has Scat/Procar Rave seats in black vinyl. Porsche 914 tachometer and speedometer as well as VDO instrumentation. Dashboard has blue carbon fiber inserts thanks to Carbon Joe (www.carbonjoe.net) Steering is done with an original Sports Bug steering wheel, but I will be looking to replace that with something from the Momo line of wheels.

Special touches include a OEM accessory hood scoop, New Beetle rear wing, Bosch/Fuba antenna with a Honda S2000 antenna mast. New Beetle side markers are also installed.

I think that covers it. Enjoy.[/img]

Mike, the car looks great.

Do you think you'll be able to attend our October 25th show? It would be grat to see the ar in person and i thing the spectators would enjoy seeing a "German Look" car up close.

Drop me a line.

Mike, Great looking car.

I have a question for you if that is okay? I am looking to put a set of 17x9 Porsche twist rims on the rear and I was wondering about the backside spacing. I see that you use a 1 inch spacer in the rear. After that spacer, how much extra space do you have on the backside? I have a set of standard drums drilled with the Porsche pattern from CSP and I was just wondering how your wheels fit back there.

I love the look you have, very nice work, the colored baby turbo mirrors are a very nice touch too.

Thanks for the compliments. Glenn, I can't make the show. My cousin's wedding is the 25th, and I don't think they'd like it if I skipped it and went to a VW show :)

Bugjamin: The offset of the rears is et50. I don't have too much room in the back anymore. I'll have a look later on and give you a bit more info. However, there is no rubbing or anything at all in the rear. Keep in mind that you will have to cut off most of the bump stop "perch" and either reverse one of the trailing arm bolts or replace it with a button-head style.

Mike,

Bring the bride and groom to the show. Since it's almost Halloween, there's a costume contest at one of the other shows. They might win a trophy.

Maybe next year.

Mike,

Button style is what I was told to go with. Would that be the correct way to go? Is it hard to do? The wheels that I have are a bit larger than the ones that you have on. Does that mean that I am going to have to look at getting a larger spacer and fender? I am not sure about the offset measurements? They are turbo twist rims 17 X 9 for the rear. Would there be any why to find out what that offset would be?

Thanks a ton,
Bugjamin

I went with button. The backwards bolt probably won't do anything negative.

I am no expert at offsets. However, check the forums at www.germanlook.com. There are people there that know way more than I do about offsets and the like.

Finding out what offset you have is the key. Are they replicas or OEM? That can help figure out what you're dealing with.
