Door swap

Post by v tacker »

:(
the oval Iv'e been working on for two years, required door replacement, Its a 57, I used the doors from a 58, i saved from a crusher. installed the striker plates, lined them up no problems. Put in the new rubber door seals, I had ordered from RMMWs
doors close, chrome lines up too, Problem comes from they are not sealing at the top corner.

Does some one know if there is a signifigent differenence between a 57 to 58 door, or is this a matter of alignment

any & all replys welcome.

My '57 is still in the body shop and is looking great.
We had to use some "dog nuts"( that is what the body shop guy called them) to fit my doors.
The "dog nuts" are two different sized aluminum rollers on a metal handle.
one nut is about 3/4" and the other is about 1 1/4"
You put one of the "nuts" into the door hinge and push the door closed on it . the hinge is bent a little --
The bug doors fit fine now
have fun
