82mm Forged Crank

I found a new 82mm Forged Counter weighted crank for $299.99 at cip1.com. I saw they had a scat crank of the same size for over $400.00. Is their a huge difference or is it that you are just buying the scat name for another $150. Thanks, Brad

Bro,
One creank the $299 is the Volkstroker. The $429 crank is the volksRACER. Look closely at the crank main bearing journals, they are machined with an oil groove all the way around the crank and the oil holes are (hogged out) a little. Much better for main bearing life and bearing cooling. We use the 84 stroke volksracer in a 2332 desert race motor.
I just bought a 78.8 scat volksracer from them. With the 10% off interned coupon I only paid $386. The shipping if free but there is a $10 boxing charge for the crank. They had the order to my door on 7 days. Ordered last monday 11/24, brown truck arrived 12/1 wit da goodz.

I have never had a problem with cip1. If you order through the web you can take %5 off and still get the free shipping. Better than the magazine adds and cheaper overall.

Appreciat it man. I have ordered lots of stuff from them before, rods and stuff like that. It just sounded a little too cheap for such a large crank.

Being more specific, the "volksracer" is forged in China and the machine work is done by Scat in USA. Volks stroker 11 is forged and machined in USA. Volks stoker 111 is a CAST unit made by Scat.
CIP also offer a forged crank, but they don't specify the material or manufacturer, the good chromoly cranks are made of 4340.

I was toild bhat nearly all forged cranks are now from forgings made over seas. This is dirrectly from the mouths if DPR, DMS, Scat, Bugpack, and others. There are a couple made entirely in the US but they are in the $700 plus range from what Ive seen.
