"With the doghouse cooler, a wider fan was utilised for increased airflow through the cooler and across the heads and cylinders. The in-shroud system is good for larger performance engines, but the doghouse style is still better for overall cooling purposes."
They won't even talk to me.... I tried, but the political nonsense is keeping the information witheld from the world..
When we talked they were afraid my testing would make their advertisers mad that sell cooling systems.... Or that it would make my shroud look better than the rest. Fact is that my shroud needs work, alot of work... and that nothing has beat stock so far....
Imagine the story this could be... especially if the TI doghouse beats all the other systems... It already has so far, and I'm thinking it will beat the 911 also.
I'm keeping all the data, and have taken over 200 pics so far. If a mag wanted to cover it, they could easily. I'm not looking for attention, I'm looking to provide sound information that will stop myths. Atleast all the data will be posted on my sites.
I remember once pitching an idea of such a test to Trends and they said they had a 911 style system test in the works or something similar, so they passed on it. It's a shame that advertisers would get mad for having crappy products revealed, as if they were smart they would want to sell the good stuff even if it cost a bit more. People who are smart want what's best for their car, not what's cheapest (and hence crappy). At least people, as a rule, don't still put their oil cooler behind the fan shroud, in front of the fan
The advertisers feed the mags with their $$$ Those of us who don't have to advertise get shafted most of the time.... We don't even get mentioned.
I even agreed not to even mention my shroud in the article, and they still passed on it.Now I would not mention mine for sure, because it DON"T WORK.... Atleast I have the integrity to admit that!
Mine will work, before we are done with it.
Its pretty lousy when the MOST important part of the engine gets overlooked just because of political crap...
Hotrod magazine does articles on the best radiator all the time. Their advertisers are forced to make the products work or the world will know about it....
Maybe if enough people wrote the editors they would consider it....
Pages 16-21 Gene Berg book of Technical Articles....Yeah, yeah, there seem to be some who think Berg is a crack-pot, some should take a look in the mirror, but I have never had a problem with my 3 Berg motors the oldest is ten years old with just over 120,000 miles only needing two valve jobs and regular maintenance.
I agree Jake, Any other mag will test products advertized in their pages all the time. It makes the parts houses think twice about carrying that junk and makes the industry better. It's all about the "good ol' boy" mentality.
I say, If they published these kinds of things, reader subscriptions will go up.. Way up... For their honesty and value to the consumer. Advertizers will be bending over backwards to get in.. Turn the tables...
Yeah. Actually I think Senior Berg is the only one, (that I know of) that has actually published info about this subject. the only "problem" with that was that we never got informed what and why (?) - Merely : this works and that don´t.
It´s the same thing with, especially the earlier 94 mmT1 cylinders. I once (back in 1994) meet him at a session in GB. I asked him a direct Q as, what exactly is the problem with the 94´s, expecting a clarifying answer. Never got it. He simply slided himself out of the question to my great regret.
It´s one thing to be told that "this " do not work, end of story. And a very other thing to be told "because - etc" Then you can relate to it.
BTW Jake I thought you more or less had made an agreement with a non US mag. about the article - Did´nt it work out ?
