Type 1 length rods for a type 4 1.7/1.8 engine

Can type 1, 5.34" standard length, rods be used on a 66mm stroke crank? Using the longer rods, would this bring up the rpm range and still have torque?

If I understand correctly, using the longer rod would push the piston further out of the cylinder for a lot tighter deck to the point of maybe a negative deck height. Did I word that correctly (negative meaning deck closer to .000 or more)?

Also, would boring the small end for the 24mm piston pin bushing make the rod weaker on that end? These questions may seem a little silly/simple but this is my way of getting my hands dirty and learning.

The TIV 66 stroke crank is also 2.165 diameter on the rod journals just like a TI>.. BUT the journal on the TIV is wider than the TI and makes them not a direct swap out. It can be made to work easily- its how most of my combos work...

You could use 94mm TI pistons inside 94mm TIV barrels and the 22mm pin would drop right in..

The 66 stroke with a longer rod would like to rev, but with the right cam and CR you could make some good power...

Jake, what would it take to make the type 1 rods work on the type 4 crank and where would I send off the rods to have the work done? I already have type 4 94mm P/C's so all I would need are some type 1 94mm psitons! SWEET.

Would the *edited* cam work well with this combo? Also, would say 8.5-9.0:1 CR be a good starting point? The heads of course I would send off to Len for the massaging.

It would take a combo that is not as easy as most, but I do have one for it.. I have only done a few short stroke combos like this, but they came out well (except for one)
