Hey ppl
I have a 914 1800cc, and i want to build a turbo type 4, i was looking at 2666CC..but its going to cost an arm and a leg..and might be a better "next" type 4 build up..
as this is my first one.
i do however want to make a turbo motor for some reason, I just do. and im going to.
i even have a new turbo ready.. so..
question is.. can a combo like 66X103 make for a high revving turbo motor? or would a 71X103 be better? or would i even notice a diff? thing is..if i need to buy a new crank..im going big and making a 2666. but if the 66 i have works.. then it might be fun for a street racer <vbg>
let me know what you think
thanx
Cale

66mm stroke, good for turbo? or junk?

I don't have an opinion regarding the stroke...but turbo's like RPM's and RPM's require counterweights and balancing. That just about eliminates the 66mm crank unless you have the counterweights welded on.

counterweights are a bonus..but you dont NEED them,i know, crank flex and all that..
its a VERY good idea..but a dynamic balance job to keep things spinning smooth..helps allot..i dunno..lots of ppl have built motors without counterweights..i know of 1 turbo type 4 with a stock crank and its ok..its just kinda what you plan to do with it..im not looking for 10000rpm screaming down the street..often
