$245 CB cranks on TheSamba

Well, I ordered an 82mm VW journal crank yesterday from the guys on TheSamba.
When it gets here, I'm taking it over to Precision Crankshaft here in Jacksonville FL. They owe me a few favors, so I can have the crank totally checked out for free. I'll post here with the results.
I figure for $245 plus S+H it's worth the gamble for a street motor.

Has anyone else bought one yet?

Some assembly lube and an engine case would keep it from rusting!

I bought 2 of the 84 x chevy cranks just Tuesday, they check out
fine. I have built may engines with CB super cranks and there H
beam rods and have never had a problem. The guy is just down
the street from me so all I had to pay was Ca. tax $530 out the
door for 2 cranks GREAT deal. I luv my 2332

are these cranks nitrided? cause the price is heckuva lot low for a nitrided crank. might get one myself if anyone confirms this.

I think the words "nitrided" in the description gives it away.

There is only one company making the Bugpack,CB,Century forged cranks. They are ALL THE SAME CRANK. The Nitrated bearing surface is what has driven the cranks through the roof as far as pricing !! Those cranks being offered on the samba and a few other places are the very same cranks . They are a GREAT BUY . I have set a CB and a Bugpack Crank Side by side on the table and there is NO difference. Matter of fact, I had to mark the CB crank so we didn't get them mixed up. I'm thinking of buying a spare Crank or 2 to keep on hand ,just in case the price starts to climb again.
