I'm not clear

Post by effvee »

Hi, sorry but I'm not clear on this emergency brake cable hook up for a 944 Porsche to fit a bug. So as to be clear please allow me to start from this point. (1) queston: the 944 E-brake has a spacer from which the cable travels thourgh. Will you new conversion cable be able to use this spacer? Well its not a spacer, but in fact the part that the cable attaches to at the backing plate. Will you new cable use this part?. (2) is this conversion for a IRS or Swing axle? Will this part fit either? (3) Will there be no other mods needed for the cable? I beleive I read it would need some crimping of a end piece or was I incorrect?

Thanks

e-brake cable ends

Post by BOB JOHNS »

i got the cables today. He makes two cable ends that slip over the vw cables that goes to that go to the back of 944 backing plate. And that fork end with a hole for a pin with the c-clip to the e-brake's. then he used a press and silver soldered the ends... and can it be used for IRS or swing axle . but swing axle needs more maichine work then the irs setup. swing axle needs 15mm off hub Machine work that has to be done for the swing axle 66 and earlier to work. 67 and up you dont need to do the Machine work.
