My good friend and race partner is giving up his days of racing a Civic si and we are going to build him a 77 standard bug with a subaru ej20 :D This car will be able to run circles around my bug on the track and be able to take down cars that cost 10 times as much. I got him the car for free and all we have to do is move 8 other cars and a ton of vw parts and the car is ours

Nice!

It's kind of ironic, right now I'm auto-crossing a Honda while I restore/build my Super Beetle for racing.

Hey rsrnate, what kind of time frame are we talking? Ready for this seasons abuse on other lesser brands that cost too much?

Te-he-he-he-he

We got the motor :D I went down to Nippon motors today and picked up a ej20t for $650. I tried to pick up an adapter to bolt it into the car today but nobody had one in stock :x I stripped the motor down and fliped the intake around and marked the water cross over so it can be cut and fliped. I hope to pick up the adapter durring the week and have the motor in by next weekend.

Why do you have to flip the intake and water cross over? Fitment issues?

You dont have to but the intake will bump into the firewall and you would have to cut a hole :o or you could just turn it around. the water pipe exits facing away from the car and I will put the radiator in the car so if you flip it around it is facing the right way. :D

I like your site, very informative. I have been very busy with other cars and have put the suby bug on hold, but I will start working on it again very soon.
