Autocross!!
Took the 4teen to it's 1st event this last Sunday--YEEHAW, there were no more "914, anemic performance" statements after this massIVe display! I'm gonna need wider rubber in the rear!! (to quote another forum member)
BUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I love this motor! The longest trip I've taken it on to date, about 3 hours there and back cruising between 3 and 4000rpms. No need to downshift, it just torques on!! The head temps seem to be getting lower as it's getting broken in! I can't believe how cool it runs!
Jake, I do need to talk to you about crankcase ventilation, what can you tell me about pre-oilers?

Ephry, this thing ROCKS. I had a '74 914 back in the '70s and always knew they had potential but needed some juice. This has been my first type IV build and this RAT kit has exceeded my expectations, no BS!
The oil temps are awesomely cool, better than I've seen on any type I-- any idea what the operating temp range is on the stock combi-gauge? You know I was thinking about moving the cooler to the front of the car? Well I re-configured the oil lines (I have to learn by doing), I originally had them low but now they're high and the indicated temps are lower. I must have been picking up some heat from the exhaust.
Jake, I'd like to tap your brain abit. I'm pushing out some excess oil through my crankcase vent system. I have the simple box with foam and hoses to the heads and 1 to the fitting by the filler. Can you recomend improvements? My situation may have been compounded by the extremes of my autox centrifuging!
Can you recomend a pre-oiler system? I'm going again next month, it's addictive! Where'd you get yours?
