dizzy recomendations

Post by rogueturtle »

Ive got an oo9 and am not too happy with it. Ive got a 1904 w/o44 heads, 8.7:1 comp. 1.5" merged ceramic coated headers and dual dell 36s. Ive been fiddling with the dells to get them right but feel like i keep running up against the 009. What vaccuum advanced options should i be concentrating on here so that i can eliminate one problem in the chain?

Put a electronic igniter in it and that eliminates that problem

The mallory unillite from aircooled.net is a spendy item, but you will never be sorry you bought it. Well worth the money, completely tunable, and available with a vacuum can. If that it out of the question $$$ wise, then a stock SVDA from the same place would work well also.

Running an electronic module in a 009 will not fix it's issues. The problem lies in the crappy quality and advance curve, not getting the spark to the wire.

I'm running a 1904 with dual Dellorto DLRAs, 42x37.5 valves and 9.25:1 cr.

I use a Bosch 010 with a Berg CDI ignition.

I'm quite happy with the setup.

The 009's are a crap shoot due to poor quality. Understand that in order for a distributor to produce a repeatable perfect curve, there has to be a measure of perfection in the weights, bearing surfaces, springs, etc. And considering the 3rd-world factory is cranking them out at $20 bucks a pop, that's not going to happen.

Mallory or an SVDA are your options.

Funny how everyone is suggesting a solution, but the guy hasn't actually stated what the problem is.

okie- to clarify,

I get a low speed pop once in a blue moon. There is also some slight pop on decceleration at highway speeds. I have checked exhaust for leaks.
There is also a slight bog between 1st and 2cnd gear in the low rpm range.
Off idle grunt is a bit sluggish as is midrange pull at higher speeds 55mph+. Cam is 110. dual dell36s.1904/8.75compression/1.5"exhaust. I recently changed to the larger exhaust and got a few more sluggish spots where it stumbles before gathering up steam.
