I read on the Eaton site about the different models being most efficient on certain litre engines.
Any gain in running the next size larger unit than required or would the extra volume cause its own problems? (ignoring the fact that larger case sizes wouldn't work in some situations).
Also, anybody know where to find what factory cars came with which units(US)?
Lastly, how do you examine a used unit for worth and can they be rebuilt or freshened up?

Well, Moggy (?) has a m45 unit which is not big enough for his 2+liter motor unless he runs the s/c'r past the recommended rpm and even then it might not be enough.

I picked up a M62 from a ford t-bird, these normally sell on evilBay for about 300 bucks or so in the US.

The motor I have for this particlar supercharger is only a 1.8 (i'd rather launch a free motor than the one in my daily driver)

This is my first post on this forum. When I found that some other Bug nuts were putting the Eaton supercharger in their bugs I wend crazy. I have been a bug nut since I was 14 and I now own both a custom VW Bug and a Thunderbird SC with the supercharged V6 3.8 liter.

The Thunderbird SC came with the Eaton M90 from 1989 to 1993 (first generation.) And also In 1994 to 1995 (second generation.) The second generation is still the M90 but with better porting and Teflon coated rotors. The more efficient M90 from 94 to 95 could be spun at a lower RPM and still create as much boost as the early model.

The GM unit is the M62. Used in Buick 3.8 V6 (Regal and Bonneville) since 1992. The second generation started in 1994. Those M62 are found in the Pontiac GTP.

I get 12 PSI in my 3.8 V6. The stock T Bird SC is also intercooled. I plan to replace my M90 with an S-Model blower. Then I can figure the plumbing and put my current SC in my bug. The S-model is basically a second-generation blower that has been massaged a little with some extra porting and such.

Again the info I have found on this site is great.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks Tory,
This is the kind of info I was fishing for. The M90 is shown to be larger than the M62 on the eaton site. Wonder why two 3.8's (Ford & GM) have different size blowers? I think you hinted at what I'm wondering, could a slightly larger compressor be more efficient at lower psi?

I know that one big difference with the two is the nose cone.

The nose cone on my M90 is pretty long. I'm sure thta if I wanted to use it on a bug It would be wise to put a shorter nose on it so I could have more room to work behind it.
[link]http://www.scperformance.com/[/link] is a pretty good site. They do alot of machine work to the M90 to get more pump from them.
