The M45 is definately the right sized blower for you and it'll definately give you a sizable increase to your present torque. The price for a new M45 is about £800 (may be cheaper now). But thats the easy stuff.

The hard thing is fitting it. There aren't any kits available, you have to make your own and I assume it's a T1 in a bug. If so you'd be hard pushed to fit a blower in your engine bay with a T1 fanshroud, it just ain't gonna fit.

My advice to you would be to increase your capacity from a 1600cc to start with, either by increasing the capacity of your present T1 or wacking a T4 in there which are renowned for being torqey pretty much as standard. And then go from there.

Thats pretty much what I did.

I went from a T1 1600 to a T4 2.0l with twin 36DRLA's and a BAS exhaust and 1800cc heads. It knocked out about 100bhp, and was reliable enough to be my daily driver for 4 years and took my on my hols around France, Italy and the Alps. It was torqey enough to toe Mont Blanc.....
