With Turbo and Super charging you can create massive horsepower with vw motors.

Hi Moggy,
What where who..me? Oh. Funny you should ask. Yes, I have been following your posts and I just won two ebay auctions. 1 Eaton M62 3rd gen, barely used at $300 and a new bypass valve for $50 used on 5.0 mustangs. Jake is still working on the engine. Since I am going to use FI its simplifies the system a bit so I am cautiously optimistic ;-). My usage of the engine will be fairly light so I will have to see about the cooler. Once I have something interesting to show I will post it.

Any news on that blown T4 you're buildin???

Just thought I'd relay some things I've learn't recently.

M45 is definately too small for your 2.3litre motor, M62 will be adequate.

The blow-off valve from a turbo which I was using as a by-pass valve is too small. How d I know?? Well, cos when I measured the boost at tickover under the carbs it = 0psi or less which meant that the blow-off valve is doing what it's supposed to. But when I measured the pressure above the carbs, it was approx 10psi which means that although it was dumping un-needed prssure to atmosphere, it wasn't big enough to get rid of all of it, which means that the blower is still compressing air when it doesn't need to.

Solution fit 2 more blow-off valves or (which is what I'm doing) fit a 4th generation blower.

So basically what I'm saying is an M62 4th generation blower is the way to go for you. You probably already know this, but I thought I'd relay my findings to you.

Let me know how it's goin.

Oh and by the way, if at all possible, fit an intercooler. I'm currently fitting a water/air one, it should do wonders for increasing the charge density (i.e. more power).

Nice one Rich. Result on the M62.

I'll let you know the power increase by installing an intercooler.

Keep me posted on yours, good luck....
