There are several plans to do this...

I have pix of ours in bare steel if you can wait for a few weeks until I get back to it.

Much of the plan depends on your fabrication skills.

there are 3 methods for installing a ragtop section into a hardtop bug

# 1 The Pillar Method
cut the ragtop roof off at the pillars and then cut the hardtop at
the same place on the pillars and then weld it on. Almost like doing a
choptop.

#2 The Skin Method
cut the ragtop roof at the pillars and then deskin at the drip rail
and then do the same on the hardtop, then weld in the whole ragtop
roof at the drip rails on the side, at the windshield in the front and at
the back window in the rear.

#3 The Hole Method
cut a hole in your roof the size of the ragtop cutout and then weld
in the ragtop section. Install the rag section from underneath and then
weld it in.

I have never done any of these methods but I have seen VW mags
do a tech article on the first two and I have seen my friend do #3.

I was thinking #3

Im thinking the hole method because I would like to use the remainder of the 62 for a ratrod or baja project, just a thought, like I have enough time
thanks for the responses
