alfa 36 idf help please

just stuck on a pair of alfa 36 idfs to my 1776 seems to be revving a bit and also a small amount of popping coming from the top of the carbs every so often.

Anyone got pics of their alfa idfs in situ and how youve done the fuel lines etc..

and know any links to setting them up ?

Whats your jetting?

Alfa's 33 or equal have in their carbs different emulsion tube,on my Webers I had F57,and F11 were needed so I had to buy them,and they are not so cheap!!!

You must know your jet sizes,air?main?idle?Pull out all the jets and give us your readings.

What heads do you have in your 1776,and whats your venturi size in carbs??

To find out your venturi size,look down through the throat of carb,and you''ll see the number stamped on

It should be something like 28,30 or even 32 in Weber 36 IDF

First thing to do is clean them up well. Then make sure the floats are set to about 11mm, and get rid of those F50 emulsion tubes. F11's are better suited. The vents are about 28mm or 30mm on those, right?

On the foot of one of them it says, 36 idf 53 3f ??

Only when you figure out what vent size you have can you start to plug values for jets.

Alfa 36 IDF have too small idle and pump jet for vw => try 55 idle and 50 pump. However some of this carbs have a very large air corrector (180 to 220).
For the fuel line you could tap the smallest hole on the stock dual banjo fitting & loctite a screw in them.

That depends on what size your engine is and what size your valves are.

Here's my little article on cleaning and setting floats. It was written for new carbs, but should work ok for yours as well.
