1776 won't idle - 44 webers

all of a sudden, my 1776 won't idle. i've been driving it for 6 months with no problems and out of the blue it just starts to die when i let off the gas. heres the specs

009 pertronix
dual 44idf webers

i've tried adjusting the timing and adjusting the carbs. neither action does anything to the idle speed. even when i put the idle speed adjustment screw all the way in, it still idles really low for a second then die. the other day i worked on it for 2 hours and thought it was worked out. running smooth and idled great, but when i took it out on the street, it died again and hasn't been right again since. adjusting the idle mixture screws has no affect. please help, this is driving me crazy.

Sounds like you either have plugged idle jets or a leak on the manifolds.

Where's your timing at now, and what size intake valves do you have? Sounds like dirty carbs for the most part, but if your 1776 does not have 40mm intakes or better, these carbs are a bit big and will be harder to tune.
