Can be used a turbo with a small crack in exhaust housing? I have a Garret T2 and the crack is a small hairline that starts from the hole of integrated wastegate.
Some friend told me that such cracks become dangerous when arrive in the outside or when them cause the wastegate to not operate correctly.
Is this right?
The turbo I purchased was really cheap (about 30 dollars). Maybe I will see if the turbo setup works and the engine stays together before going into a turbo rebuild...Peppe

I suggest you get it welded up, even just tacked if you cant afford to but a new housing.. The problem would be that when driving your turbo will get hot and the said crack may expand thn cool when you stop then expand then cool etc.. You should be able to get someone to weld it for next to nothing!

You'd be better off having the turbo rebuilt. You might be able to save the casting by welding, but welding distorts the metal and turbos operate at extremely tight clearances.
