Cool!MASSIVE TYPE IV wrote:Development of them is being finished as we speak...
What would be the main benefit from them over ceramics? Friction wise it would hardly be possible to beat the ceramics one would think..or does it?
Weight of a ceramic is also hard to beat...
Steeper lifting angles perhaps for short-life (valve guides) racing engines?
Tnx,

Well.... For one these would be easy to get... for another the roller design allows the valve to be ultimately controlled and a cam grind no longer has to worry about ramp speeds, since the roller lifter doesn't rotate in the bore.. This means we can slightly open the valve right off the seat till the point of max piston interferance and then 2 degrees after that we can slam it home as fast as we can- this super increses chamber filling. The ceramic lifters are still a flat tappet and this can't be safely done with them.
Thats why these roller lifters have a ceramic rotating foot- zero friction from the ceramic coupled with the benefits of the roller profile.Friction wise it would hardly be possible to beat the ceramics one would think..or does it?

The right combo of rollers will create a 2056 thats just as strong as a 2270 with flat tappets.... The roller set up will only be 650.00 or so!!!!!

Thanks for the informative reply Jake!
Then you must also design a whole new array of cams for it I guess
Would they also need more spring?

Running a conventional cam lobe with these lifters would not take advantage of their capabilities.. All the cams that will be used for these arrangements will be billet steel blanks- not cast iron.
Yes, this has been a huge undertaking so far in the cam profile department- starting from ground zero is what it has taken.
More when I get to the next stage and can share it.
