What kind of question? The forum is basically for technically oriented questions.

The wording of your post makes me think that your question may be more $$ related than technical.

If in doubt PM me first.

Sorry for the mind bend. I'm gonna think that you replace the valves with SI's. Retain the AMC supplied springs, retainers, and keepers, unless customer noted. Lastly and most important, change the seats with a better material and reinstall them with at least .010 crush? Your price is agreeable. Thanks. That's all.

All wrong...

All the seats, valves, guides, springs, retainers and valves are tossed...

The only thing we reuse is the castings and the studs-

Two weeks ago I sold a HUGE box of the brand new head parts on Ebay... We typically throw the stuff away.

The seat installation process goes much further than just the interferance fit. Len's processes for this involve a post cooling process that is remarkable and really help valve jobs last much longer because they simply do not move!

If we could buy the heads from the factory without any of those parts I would do so, but they come fully assembled.

If I could just jump in here and ask if Len does any clean-up work on these heads, or are they as cast? I'm guessing that for the amount of work involved at the price you're selling them for, the answer is "as cast"

Thanks

The 7416 and 7424 heads are basically "as cast" with only some blending of the seats.

Er, I thought we were discussing your 7408 head (actually I'm interested in the 7412 head, but I expect that what applies to the 7408 also applies to the 7412). Basically a new AMC head with springs, retainers, valves, guides and (most important, IMO) seats all replaced with quality parts. Is a 3-angle valve seat cut or grind also part of this deal (not assuming anything here)?

On a related topic, do you or Len have data on what maximum head temperature it would be safe to run the upgraded AMC heads at? I've read the posts and articles where Len found that factory AMC seats can literally fall out of the heads at 400F. Has he also determined at what temperature the upgraded heads will lose their seats, or are seats no longer the limiting factor with the head upgrades?

Thanks again

Ditto on the question SloLane asked about head temps.

I have tested Lens heads at over 460F - no issues.

The stock non modified head, either AMC or original can drop a seat at anything over 400F.. Some can take more, but its risky business for sure.
