MALLORY UNILITE DISTRIBUTOR CAP QUESTION

Post by marekv8 »

Jake,
The 2270 has finally been shoehorned into the car. In a sea of black and raw metal finishes, the red Mallory cap stands out like Rudolf's nose on a foggy Christmas Eve. Does Mallory offer a Unilite cap for this application in basic black-- or is the red a branding badge of honor?

Also, are your proprietary air cleaner housings (finned top section) available in finishes other than chrome? Dave machined new aluminum bases to fit the throttle bodies and the tops now carry too much bling in comparison.

Thanks, Dave W.

Dave, The other Dave has kept me closely in the loop as the transplant was completed...

The air filter tops can be powdercoated and the dizzy cap can be painted as the above poster mentioned... I do not know of any other color for the mallory caps to be honest with you.

Dave should be all finished just after bug Jam and then we'l finish the deceleration portion of the fuel Map and you'll be on the road!

Thanks guys, looks like a paint job.

I'm just relieved that it all fit in there. I got a bit concerned when Dave sent over the shot of the fuel rail sticking so far out of the engine compartment. Have you seen an image of the final fit?

Regards, Dave

Not yet...

if things would not have fit perfectly I would have chopped the tops off the manifolds and inverted the throttle bodies! That would have put the fuel rails inboard and soloved the issue... Now All the EFI arrangements have this set up, but you were "The Guinea pig"...LOL

If the stock cap is Mallory 271, there is a 271B that can be ordered. Call and confirm...

That's good news, thanks.

Jake, by chance do you know the Mallory part number for that cap?

Thanks, Dave
