TIV DTM Bellcrank linkage- Stainless Steel-

Post by MASSIVE TYPE IV »

After a bunch of drawings and finding pieces/parts the kits will be available by the 2nd week of December at latest!

The linkage will be for all DTM applications for the TIV engine either carbbed or EFI and the kit will come complete. If you already have a DTM you will need one piece welded to your generator stand. We supply the waterjet cut part and your local Aluminum welder can do the job, or we can do it for you for a bit of a charge if you send the stand back to us.

The linkage will install easily, but existing DTM customers will have to remove the oil cooler housing from the shroud and lift it 3/4" redrill the holes and then reinstall it. This is to gain added clearance for the throttle cable to pass UNDER the oil cooler housing. This is simple but does require the engine to be removed from the car in beetle applications. (all future DTMs will have this mod as standard equipment)

The price for the linkage is 174.99 and if you want us to weld the mount onto our stand the price will be 199.99

This is high quality lazer and waterjet cut components and its all stainless with 360 degree heim joints and multiple adjustment points. This has been needed for a long time as the linkage is the only PIA associated with the DTM.

If interested let me know! Here is a pic of the prototype

I'll let you know about the linkage. I love the 911 setup but you have progressively made that DTM look better and better. This setup looks great with the FI and the linkage.

Let me ask you, and this may have been asked before and addressed before. The one thing that I don't care for on this type of setup, or the stock setup for that matter, are the heater(hot air) type accordian look hoses. Is there a way to mold that into the shroud with steel or fiberglass or other shroud related material to make a more smooth finished look shroud?

Not really... We ALWAYS prefer fit and function over looks- even though looks sale so much better to the uneductaed, non hardcore buyer....

I do have a version of the shroud that must use an external oil cooler and it does not have a hose, or even the provision for it- very smooth and sleek. It has been proven to supply the same cooling for the cylinder heads, but it does not use the internal cooler- you have to run external.

I don't have much in the lines of products that look better than they work-

I understand. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock it, and I look for functionality as well as looks. I was just wondering if there was a sleek look to go with the fantastic performance. I just wasn't sure if there was a previous agreement to leave it that way (looks wise) between you and the previous builder, or if it was a functionality issue.

Nope.. I could do whatever I want with the shroud- I bought the business after Joe's passing...

But the shroud works so well and its so easy to work with that I have chosen to leave it as is.

Joe didn't just slap the oil cooler there for no reason- He put YEARS of thought and work into these shrouds. Everything was thought about and it all had a reason- Joe was a logical, self taught and extremely attentive individual... I won't call him an engineer because I would hate to piss him off while in the grave (he cared for engineers about as much as I do)

Makes sense to me. Performance over looks any time. Jake, When and where can we send payment for one of those units? I need one bad Jake. This will not only make my life easier, but now with the 2270 and the EFi I need piece of mind as well.
I could always use this linkage to also mount the Knechts filters ( since the CB linkage plates get in the way), and will allow me to have a quieter engine bay.

One thing, would you include the templates to follow for the drilling of the new accelerator cable holes and to relocate the cooler? or just the measurements?

Looks really good, and price is very decent. I have a Massive alternator stand and was wondering if you just want me to mail it to your shop, and how long for turn around time. If too long, then I just buy the linkage with the attachement to weld later.

Thanks a million for doing all of this for us.

I can turn the Alt. stand around in 2 days or less...

I will include drilling templates for relocating the oil cooler housing.

Looks like the first week of December before we'll have all the units fabbed up as assemblies.
