I am considering buying a 1975 914. The sign says "2.0L" in the window, but, the tail of a car has the "1.8L" metal badge.
Were two motors available in the 1975 914?
Or, are there just a lot of converted 1.8 liter motor in the 1975 era 914's?
Does anyone know if the engine case is longer in a 2.0L than a 1.8L?
Thanx
Josh

How many bolts between the intake manifold and the head?
If there are FOUR bolts holding down the intake manifolds to the heads.
It aint a 2 litre 914 head.
If there are 4 bolts holding down the manifolds to the head.
then the heads could be
1) 1.7 litre
2) 1.8 litre
3) 2 litre bus heads
4) Any one a differant odd ball configurations that you may not want.
ALSO: Just because an engine has 2 litre 914 heads. Don't make it a 2 litre.
Check the engine serial numbers. Then go to TUNAS site and check your numbers.

In fact go to TUNA'S website and read it ALL. At least the referance area.
NOTE: ALL 914 engine cases are pretty much interchangable. They are all the same length.
Don't ask me about BUS cases.. I don't know anything about em....
Even more inportantly that the engine size.. What is the rust quotient of the Teener like?
if ya don't have a good idea of what to look for.

BY THE WAY
If you are in SoCal.
I know people that can go look at the car WITH YOU. Immediatly
And keep you from buying a problem that you might NOT want to deal with..... (RUST + MONEY)
No matter where you are. There is probably a 914club member that may step up to go look at the car with you..
We like doing that kind stuff............
