That is not the trans code. That is the part number of the gear carrier. Go around to the right side just forward of the diff down low. Read the code from under the frame horns. It is stamped into the case about 1.5" below the case part number

Try taking a picture, the knowledge on this board is fairly impressive.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Sounds like you have a Rhino case. It is a case made in Brazil with extra ribbing.

I have a hard time logging into this site for some reason.
Anyway Yes it does have extra webbing.
And It is made in brasil.
Next time I get a turn with the digital camera I'll take picture of it.

This is what the top of a rhino case looks like. Any thing like that? or maybe it has some ribs welded to the bottom?

Since it is made by VW Brazil, the "081" denotes that is a Brazilian Type 2 transmission case, which would make it a rhino case. There is no ID number because it is a replacement and not a production fitment.

Well done on using the search!
The trans case indicated above is just a different case that's made in Brazil and has more webbing on the outside.
What's inside is whatever the trans builder put in them. If there's no serial number, it's anyone's guess what is inside. If there is a code stamped onto it, the whole gearbox is likely to have been made in Brazil with all Brazilian parts. Most are interchangeable with German VW trans parts.
