Crankshaft-- any value?

I have been carrying along with me on my travels (for about 8 years) a mysterious crankshaft that I acquired along with a wounded '69 Porsche 912. It is supposedly from a 912E, but it doesn't have the usual multi-digit parts number that I am used to seeing on german parts. It certainly looks like a 912/VW crankshaft (much like my Karmann ghia's, but beefier). It looks like it should be rebuildable. If anyone feels inclined to try to ID it for me, I will email pics. If it has any value, I would like to do something with it, rather than leave it to grow old with my other miscellaneous VW parts. Thanks for any help!
