Bellcrank linkage for TIV DTM- NOW AVAILABLE!!

Post by MASSIVE TYPE IV »

This is what the finished product looks like!

Image

The retail price for the stainless steel linkage set is 184.50 and NO WELDING is required to fit it onto ANY TYPE IV DTM equipped engine, this includes the DTM as produced by me or by Oregon Performance- we have made the assembly universal for either version!

I have revised the kit to include a mount that can be BOLTED to any existing generator stand by only drilling two 8mm (letter H drill size) holes in the alternator/generator stand and tapping them 8mmX1.25mm with the tap supplied in the kit. We include a drilling template to locate the mounting holes accurately onto your existing generator stand as well!

The system is very adjustable and incorporates 4 different areas of adjustment within it's span of the engine for fast and accurate adjustment of the carbs or individual runner throttle bodies.

This assembly was designed to work with Weber IDF and Dellorto DRLA series carbs while it's EFI version is set up to work with TWM or Jenvey Throttle bodies, or even CB Performance units as well. It will also work with Kadron carburetors and even Solex 40 P11- truly universal thanks to it's excellent adjustability!

Heck even the ball sockets have dust bots to keep grit and grime away! Image

Here is a pic of the complete kit. Not pictured is the drilling template for locating the holes onto your existing generator stand as well as the carb/EFI adaptors, these are included in the kit, just not pictured..

And here is the link to get your's from the Type 4 store

This is a super high quality assembly with ball bearing smoothness and accuracy with full stainless steel composition. It took an unbelievable amount of work to engineer this arrangement to work as well as it does!

HAHAhA. I had placed my order before reading this!

Jake,

I am running the 44IDFs now, and will be switching to CB injection in the next month or so. Will I need a different set of tabs for this?

When Can I expect the linkage?

E

P.S. Thanks a million. It looks amazing, and I'm sure will help a lot of issues when synchronizing carbs and such.

Linkage should ship today....

The CB throttle bodies have the same mounts as a Weber carb, so the tabs should work fine for you.

Great! That works for me. I love how the linkage fits. Makes for a cleaner engine bay, plus, I will be able to run the Knecht air filters without messing up the linkage position.

Again, thanks a million Jake.

How does the throttle cable arrangement work, I cant quite picture it..
Looks like the swivel would be in the wrong place for where the cable comes through the shroud?

Is it possible to fit it to an engine already in a car?

My engine:

Very tempted by this as it would really decluter the look of the engine bay.

The engine would have to be removed... The shroud also has to be removedand the oil cooler housing raised 3/4".

The throttle cable drops seriously to a point UNDER the oil cooler where it intersects with the throttle cable very precisely...

Anyone that wants to see more pics, email me at [email protected] and I'll show you some pics of a completed arrangement in a beetle.

Its really very simple to do.

Ahh, it all becomes clear.
Having the cable nice and low like that will be a big plus, but having to take the shroud off is a bit of a pain.
I will leave it for now, and will bear it in mind for when I next plan on taking the engine out of the car.

Cheers for clearing that up Jake.

Wait! is that a 009 on the top picture Jake?

I have been waiting for this puppy for a long time. I cannot wait to get it home and take the shroud out and do my install. I will get pics up as soon as I can(still cnanot find my own camera)

I'm also taking the time to run new wiring in the engine bay and install the alternator and make more room for the Hyfire box and so on, and so on.

Jake,

Thanks man.

The drill for a m8x1.25 hole should be 6.8mm

Sam,

I just noticed something on your engine. It looks like the passenger side carb sits higher that the driver's side(not just a disctance effect) are you having synchronization problems with the carbs?

Hmm. As I tilt my head to the left, I realize the car is slightly off to the left.

You are right Jake.

Jake,

I got my linkage today(FedEx delivered it on Saturday, which is super cool)

I drilled and tapped the alt stand. and have the oil cooler housing out of the car(in the Ghia it is so much easier, and no need to remove the shroud.

Do I just drill the holes 3/4 inch down from the original ones, or do I need to drill, down and to the right? The instructions did not mention this detail, or maybe I didn't read right.

This thing looks amazing! the arms pivot smoothly and it looks super solid

Yes, relocate the holes 3/4" from the original holes in the oil cooler housing. This will allow you to utilize the original holes in the main body of the DTM for mounting.

The instructions were VERY difficult to write!
