Core cylinders now required for ALL bored cylinder purchases

Good cores are getting harder and harder to find and more and more people are paying the difference for the core charges on our bored cylinder kits rather than sending in their cores.

This has really impeded our productivity as we have simply not had any core cylinders to work from for the past few weeks so I have decided to make the cores be a MANDATORY part of the purchase for these bored cylinders.

All cores must be either 93 0r 94mm TIV cylinders and must be from the same engine and have a maximum of ONE broken cooling fin per set of 4 cylinders. All cylinder seating surfaces must be free of rust, dents or other surface issues that could impeded the sealing of the cylinder to the head.
It is required for the core cylinders to be sent in to us prior to your order being shipped to ensure the cylinders are servicable and meet the standards we require to rebuild them.

I also will be buying cylinder cores to help get my stash of cylinders back to an acceptable level, price dependant upon condition.[/b]

we are in the same boat jake on our side of the pond, getting really hard to come by these days, iam down to my last 3 sets

If push came to shove can the available new cylinders be bored to 96mm and used with confidence?

They can, BUT the results will NEVER parallel the results of the genuine VW cast iron metallurgy.

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if you were still buying cores, Jake? I have a total of 17 1.8L cylinders in my parts stash, and I am thinking about thinning the herd out some.
