Prob a silly question.. couldnt find an answer..

stroke the stock 2.1 crank?
or can a type 4 stroker fit? I seem to remember the bearings are no where near the right size..

so if the stock crank.. weld and grind? or use smaller big ends? (Chevy etc)
Approx cost?

A type 4 crank will not fit in a wbx case, not no way, not no how. A type 1 crank can fit, depending what you are trying to do. Dpr and Dms will stroke a wbx crank for you.

DPR welded up my wbx crank and added counterweights for $350. 82mm is about the max you want to go with VW journals.

I just used the stock rods. This caused problems with the piston, which i simply shaved down. A better solution is to get custom pistons with the appropriate pin height and dish.

Mmmm
Sounds good a stroker crank in a wasserboxer
GoWesty in the USA do stroker engines and Pistons
http://www.gowesty.com/new_engine.htm
I don't know if the sell the parts seperate.
BAS in germany used to sell stroker cranks. don,t know if they still do.
If I find someone who will offset grind my crank I will let you know.

  seen your post on C80-90..
150 might be a bit ambitious if you want to retain the reliability.. + more grunt is what the bus needs..
82mm stroke returns 2275cc (all things being equal) should result in more grunt, combined with a different cam (I have to retain the "DG" carb setup, so will use a webcam 218/19 IIRC, more intake to get a better mix in..)
Its either that or twin 40's and a hairy cam with port work!!
mail me..

Unlike Tuna type 4 information...finding information on here is a little more arduous...hence I am going to ask the question here!

What are the crank set ups for Wasserboxers? What throw are the various capacities and are they counterweight?

Cheers,
Dan

Yes they have C/W.

Some random picture of cranks, the stock wbx crank is “kind of” counter weighted. It has funny “pooches” compared to a bug crank.

From http://www.gearheads.dk/oxyboxer.htm
Image

Letting DPR take a welder to one results in a more counter weighted bug style looking crank.

Image note how you can still see the pooches between 1-2 & 3-4 rod journals.

I wouldn't call them counter weighted when in stock form. I am not convinced they even need the counter weights...

Stock WBX cranks revs safely about 1000 rpm s higher than a stock T1 crank. That means about 5800 rpm, plus "the yellow zone" which is another approx. 500 rpm.
Longer stroke WBX cranks need the counterweights for both strength and balance.

So anyone know of a European engineer that can weld and stroke a wbx crank?
I am looking into it at the mo..
But I think for phase 1, some bigger pistons a cam and a little head work will do..

My best shot would be BAS.
