I am relocating my fuel pump (1974 1.8 L-Jet) to up front but can't seem to find enough room for it. I was trying to fit it below the steering rack above the gravel guard but its just not fitting. My car has A/C so I have the condenser located under my spare tire. Is it OK to put the fuel pump inside next to my condenser? I have plenty of room there but don't want the hoses to be too long it that is a problem. Or was I supposed to mount it under the fuel tank before I put the fuel tank back?

Thanks for your help!

When I moved my FP up front I put it under the tank. I later realized that near the steering rack is the preferred location for accessibility. At any rate it does fit under the tank but if you put the filter there as well it'll be a hassle changing it. You might consider putting the FP where the factory did on the 75-76 cars.

I made the hole under the tank bigger.

Much less of a PITA , easier to get at the fuel line fittings etc.

Oh, please. That's just too obvious. Why didn't I think to do that?
