Looks like FAT and Turbo Thomas will have to happen tomorrow..
We lost some time this morning due to frozen water lines feediing the dyno- It was 7 degrees on my front porch when I walked out the door this morning..
BUT this weather has provided optimum test conditions all day and the projection puts tomorrows pressures and temps just the same..

Just shut down the dyno!
14 solid hours and one CLEAR winner in todays testing. I have to make a few phone calls before I can post results though!
It is very evident which systems are fully configured to work!
I have to do a service on the engine tomorrow and finish up with Turbo Thomas and FAT and then have a run-off between the two best systems, because the results are very close!
One made more peak power and the other has nicer curves.
Damn- What a long day! My hands are totally raw from those damn controls... Poor engine, it saw 6500 RPM 18 times, still never leaked a drop and never skipped a beat!

Holy crap

. Yes...I'm slow...I just looked at the A-1/Aero turbine link for teh first time. That is IDENTICAL...in basic design...to what I have been modeling to start to build for my car. Its simply a smooth bore version of a resonator....no cups or scoops. The difference in what is out there for current resonator technology....and this is the key...is that the inner tube is graduated (conical...I wondered if that would work!)....and the holes are graduated in size as well. That defeats not only a wide range of sound wavelengths....but does so as they are forced to slow down to the required speed for each hole size. Then, they are re-merged to the main stream by a combination of compression against the cone...and venturi effect. If it does not produce the best HP...it should at least be not too loud...and create very low back pressure...like less than 2%....and also...very low heat. Great!...I won't have to build my own! Ray

After the first set of tests, I threw the "Aer- Turbine" in the corner..
It has a wild sound, but thats all.

Hey Jake, this is all really, really good news. I wanted to ask you, is the A-1 system raw or ceramic coated, and how bad that would affect the performance.

It was raw... I seriously doubt it would ever impact performance..

Good to know. I spoke with Tiger when the whole system came out and he recomended I use the Fatboy muffler for the 1910cc engine. Have you tested the 2270 with anything that small? Just curious.

I haven't been' 'round in a while, but what can I say. This is some DAMN good news!!! When I was at the Classic last June, I drooled over Tiger's headers and dreamed I would be able to put one of those babies on my Type IV when I got it done. Now it will be a REALITY!!! Can't wait to see those graphs. Thanks to Tiger & Jake for all their work on this and Thanks to Tuna for the coordination!!!

I think the Aero Turine belongs on a Honda or Toyota. We will let them have it. It did not work well at all with the combos we were testing.

It was a great day for testing yesterday. We worked our @$$es off and got 3 systems done. Got all the main players across the dyno with all posible muffler combos, hell we even cross matched muffler systems. ever seen a BAS header with a Tangerine Phaze 9 muffler system on it. We had to do it to have the most evenly tested data.
That 2270 on the dyno is a work-horse. It took a brutal beating all day and asked for nothing but more fuel.
BTW the new RAT shop is amazing.

Thanks No H20!
That was a blast!

Jake, all of the actual Aero-turbine mufflers they stock...ARE...for the jap mobiles. What muffler are they designing for your system....and does it use the same basic concept? The concept is sound...but as with anything else...application would be very specific. Ray
