Nobody can make parts like the VW factory did...

It wuld be considered against my religon to build my own engine from scratch- thats the whole glory of the TIV, to utilize more stock VW parts in a performance engine and thats why they work so well and last so long!

With engines like this 2.8 I'm just doing things for the hell of it to prove how strong the factory parts are- it further supports the fact that a typical 270 engine is on the lower end of the modification scale and if a 2.8 will live 80K miles making 250 ponies how long will a 2270 last at 150?

And this is why we're addicted to your research Jake.

Well Jake, I sure don't want to get between you (or anybody) and their religion! :) But, with the nickies, web cam, ceramics, massive billet heads, the valves, and so on, there is not much left. Lets see,...the case, the rockers, the crank (?), I cant remember if you use the VW crank or not.

On your most radical engines what would be the most non VW parts you have used, (or VW parts retained)? Just curious.

Not much left to work with, and I have heard of the occasional use of a SCAT billet crank.

Thats something I have to disagree with.

Maybe nobody IS making parts like the VW factory did, but we are certianly capable of make better quality parts.

Like Ron said, with nickes and billet heads, whats a couple rocker arms?

Who are "WE"??? Do you want to open YOUR wallet to the tune of a few million bucks to make parts for people that more than likely won't appreciate the efforts?
\
And I have to disagree with you as well..
Show me ONE source that has effectively created a Die cast engine case to date in the aftermarket... NO ONE HAS and die casting separates the men from the bpys and thats why nothing touches the TIV case, the Wasser case and the 911 case post 2.7L- they are die cast! Even the factory magnesium TI case is die cast, all the new "Junk" cases are sand cast, heavy and crappy!

It simply cannot afford to be done! The die alone would cost more to make than most companies generate in years of profits, not to mention the rest of the casting process.

Aftermarket parts have to be made to fulfill a profit, the factory parts were produced by a company that had the volumes to build these parts and the money to front the venture correctly.

Another good example is the stock forged crankshaft- nothing on the market today parallels it, not even the Scat Billet crankshaft !

It's pretty obvious that hotstreetvw has never headed up a product development project, and I think he should before giving advice to the man that has and done so effectively with positive results.

Don't piss me off today-

Now I wonder where the molds went to? It would be a gold mine to find those.

Destroyed......purposely to keep them from being produced further.

Even with the molds it would cost more to make cases than they could be sold for...
