I really thought it was going to build 20+ psi. And I would definitely do it next to something at a stoplight! Letting the clutch out would be a waste of time. Although I do like to do burnouts!

when I 'Pre-load' with a staging brake I can get 5 lbs. :lol: two-steps are for the drag strip :wink: and those guy change them rod bearings regularly.

My N/A dune buggy would leave at 8k on the 2 step! It led to a 1.41 60’ moon shot. But, that’s how I left every time. When I bought my last good Rancho trans, Sam explained how to launch with it. Good times!

I launched mine between 6700 and 7700 rpms and used antilag to build between 20 to 30 psi of boost depending on the track conditions. I used my line lock to pre-load the suspension and the gearbox. Propper pre-load and a clutch that slips is the secret behind a good 60ft and a healthy gearbox.

I'd like to try it for sure. Maybe not 20-30 psi though! On the street that would surely just blow the tires off for me. But I have no way, besides my foot, to slip the clutch.

A grandpa style clutch foot is OK but not very consistent.

That's ok for now. Shouldn't need it too consistent for going back and fourth to work.
The 1600 is apart and ready to go back to stock and head to its new home. The internals all looked amazing. I still can't believe how pretty the piston tops were after a year of use. Bearings all looked great too. Looking forward to the 1915. I think it will suit the parts better.

One of the reasons I quit drag racing. I always believed in drag racing it was man and machine against another man and machine. The other accessories ruined the fun for me when a person could blow up his car then borrow a friends car and still launch 0.0001 from the light then finish 0.0001 from his dial-in time and do it consistently the whole day.

I do not agree. There is always room for improvements but at the same time it is totally OK to be old school as well. You will most likely never win any races but you will certainly have fun anyway.

For me it was a brutal wake up call when I brought my car to go drag racing in Sweden. In the beginning I drove mostly alone to Sweden but after a while other Norwegians did join in as well. At the races in Sweden I watched 18 - 19 year old kids did pro-mod style burnuts in their turbo BMW, they had a real team going with helpers at the starting line, some even had buses and huge tents. Their 1000+ hp cars easily managed low 8`s and I never managed to take me to the finals unless some of the faster cars had a serious issue that caused them to give away their spot. That again ment that the car I had to race first in the finals was usually #1 og #2 from the qualification and that was usually a carbon fiber monster capable of high 6`s or low 7`s. My learning curve was incredibly steep and I loved it! And remember, absolutely everyone can decide that they want to go dragracing and you do not even have to have a driving licence. All it takes is a fair bit of money and a few hours set aside for the needed race licence and you can go as fast as you want to or have the budget for. Take a V8, add a turbo, step on the brake, add throttle and let go of the brake when the light goes green. 6 seconds later cross the line and post the film from the GoPro on youtube.

This sport is NOTHING unless you can do it IN STYLE together with a group of friends and have fun while doing it. Add a little madness into the mix and you will create everlasting memories.

No doubt. We all used to drag race in high school or just after. Had the greatest time ever. Even though we were all about 14 second quarter mile. It really wasn't about how fast we went, just fun racing your buddies!

You covered the two types of racing. One is having fun and proving what you could do with what you have and the other is pushing the limits but I did see much more cheating in the proving part of the mix. You can take an easy 10 or 12 second car and do quite well in a 14 second or even slower dial in class because of all the doo-dads which is what bothered me the most.

I can see your point. Can't say I disagree. Kind of takes the "racing" out of racing. But that's the world we live in. Can't stop technology.
