2.1 rod bolt replacement options?

Just wondering what rod bolts you all are using in the 2.1 WBX rods?
Just to recap, the 2.1 rods use stretch bolts which are not intended for reuse.
ARP 5/16"? ARP 2000 3/8"?
Or just get new solid bolts from a normal 1.9/311 rod?

New German "311" rod bolts/nuts SHOULD be fine for stockinsh uses, and probably OK <150HP.
Func411 bought the other half of teh set of ARP2000 BBC bolts I have put up... Has pics over on the Type4um.

How about 250HP? Muuuuhahaha
Adding the turbo to an already big 2110 should get to some stupid HP levels.
Granted I am still on the fence between the T4 94s (dish) and T1 94s (flat tops).
Too many options!!! My brain is overloaded at the moment.

The rod bolts ARP p/n 104-6001 are the bolts I put in the rods that are going in to higher hp engines. The BBC p/n 135-6002 are a bit more work as you have to ream the rod bolt holes for the larger bolts shave the cap & beams more to clean up the big ends.

If you do go 3/8", use the part# 235-6002, they are ARP2000 waveloks, and have much smaller 12 pt nuts.
The knurling on the 135-6002s may not line up when you flip the bolts, the Waveloks work fine.
The "right" ARP bolts work fine, but for ~250 HP, you might consider something in a chromemoly rod that already comes with a 3/8" ARP capscrew, I beams are stronger than Hbeams <7K.

i have used 1.9WBX and stock type1/3 bolts in 3 WBX turbo engines until now ,
rating from 180-260HP(356Nm)
no problems yet.they have seen 6000-6500 many times on street and strip.
I thought the RPM is the biggest problem to stock bolts as the bolts are'nt stressed because of added force downwards on the rods coming from more power/torque??
The most stress is when the rods shifts direction.
Or i'm i wrong?

You have a point, but I would have the stock rods magnafluxed at least, and would rather spend a little extra on better rod bolts.
The 8 ARP "right" ones cost more than 16 of the BBC ones, in a better grade and design.
I lean towards paranoid.

Hi
I cant remember the cost, but the were stock 2.1 WBX rods. They also appeared to be heat treated.

Do you think the rods cost about $650 to $700 a set ? Thats what most Pauter forged rods cost. Thanks Rocky

RIMCO does up rebuilt "Super Rods" for the T4 and probably T1 with SPS-CARR bolts for (IIRC)~$100/exchange, WBX would likely cost the same, and I'm sure Pauter would be competitive...

Hi
I don't think that they were that much, under 200 I think.

Yes, those are stock WBX rods with arp bolts & Balanced. I dont think Pauter will do those any more. Rocky
