Sparkyshep,

You can try GB ENGINEERING. They are based in England

Tel: 01270 841081

Good luck! They are a great engine. I put one in my 69 bay.

Sparky, check out www.ricola.co.uk this guy did an alfa into bug for his speedster good info on the site, then he went turbo scooby power.....

Let us know how you get on with GB engineering, I'm thinking of going to them for a volvo to vw adapter, but I expect it'll all be custom, I don't think they do one of the shelf.

Sparkyshep,
Have you got your adapter yet? If so, can you measure the overall length of the input shaft for me? There is a small difference in lengths between the beetle and transporter shafts. I need to know which one I have
Many thanks

the plate turned up after a 4 week wait it is good and will only need a little grinding to clear my crank sensor but this is not a error on gb engineerings as i did not request the cut out. the input shaft is 31.2cm long thanks steve

Just to pre-warn you. Both my GB Engineering Alfa adapter plates needed quite a lot of clearancing for the Alfa starter motor nose, if this isn't done the starter motor is forced in at an angle and won't bea able to turn

as i am using the 16valve engine the starter comes with a spacer plate as standard and the flywheel has got a pickup ring bolted to the front of the flywheel so i have been lucky and have only had to grind for the cranksensor no clearance prodlems so far thanks steve

Sparky, will you be using carbs or retaining the injection system ?

re fuel injection

I was going to retain the fuel injection as it seem quite a good setup with the throttle bodys 40mm in size as the wiring is no problem as i am a auto sparky I dont think there are manifolds to fit this engine to run carbs as the intake port is a different shape than a 8 valve. Why ,what did you have in mind kafercup1???

Hi Sparky, was thinking of putting a 16 valve engine in my bug, but use cards. I know a man who has had some manifolds machined for fitting cards onto the 16 valve, and he might be selling them.

hi kafer cup the guy i bought the engine of races alfa 33,s his car runs 180bhp on fuelinjection but changes the cams but there a bit pricy at £800 he recons that a early 1200 alfasud ti engine manifolds may do the job. i am running the fuelinjection as you can get a chip for the injection to give it a claimed extra15bhp and at a later date i would like to run nitros as well which i can rig in with the injection stuff good luck with your prject i do recon it worth the effort as i was chating breifly with a guy with a beach buggy 1.7 8valve engine and gaswho had blown his diff with the power of the engine i bet the 16v got a lot more power than the 8valve .once the cars on the road may build up a second engine and look at making it turboed those nova boys better watch out at the traffic lights cheers steve,,, let me know how you get on ,,,
